This is NOT Type 1 Diabetes.

This is NOT Type 1 Diabetes.
And if you think it is, sit down.
Because you’re about to be educated.

Type 1 diabetes, previously known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, is a autoimmune disease where your pancreas can’t make a hormone called insulin which adequately regulates blood glucose levels.

Type 1 diabetes is caused by an autoimmune reaction in which the immune system mistakenly targets and kills the beta cells in the pancreas responsible for producing insulin.
It is nothing to do with diet, age, being overweight or lifestyle.
Type 1 diabetes can develop at any age.

We all need insulin to live.
It does an essential job.

It allows the glucose in our blood to enter our cells and fuel our bodies.

When you have type 1 diabetes, your body still breaks down the carbohydrate from food and drink and turns it into glucose. But when the glucose enters your bloodstream, there’s no insulin to allow it into your body’s cells.

Therefore we need to inject insulin, count carbohydrates & monitor our blood glucose levels frequently to live.

Now we’ve cleared that up, I’m gonna inject some insulin to cover the carbohydrate count I’m about to demolish & enjoy my slice of cake! 🍰
